New Resources for Families
We are delighted to announce we have some excellent new books for our library for families. At parent request we have added new workbooks with practical ideas for helping children and teens working on emotional issues. Anxiety, depression, self-esteem and shyness are some of the topics. We also have some good books on social skills for children and anger management. (2014-05-12)
Around the World Presenters
Happy Monday everyone! We hope you all had a fabulous fun weekend, despite all the rain! As we all know...summer is drawing nearing everyday! That means that we are recruiting volunteer presenters for our "Around the World in 80 days" program. In this summer cultural program starting June 2, children get to "travel" to a new country everyday! So each day we have a presenter come for about 20 minutes and talk about the following topics:
Cultural traditions of that specific country
The Language and teach different words in that language
The education system, how the school system works
Food and clothing
Any fun or unique facts about the country
Brings artifacts, clothing items, food or any visual items
Usually our presenters are from a different country. However, if someone has lived in a country for a while or has artifacts and a knowledge about a country of interest, that works too! Remember that presentations must be child-friendly and educational. If you or someone you know would be interested in presenting about a country, please contact us at 435-755-5171 or email@example.com.
**After presentations, we will provide activities, games and arts and crafts related to a specific country. This Around the World will be from 1-3pm Monday-Friday starting June 2-August 15. (2014-04-28)
